Home-Start UK is a local community network of trained volunteers and expert support helping families with young children through their challenging times. Home-Start offers a unique service, recruiting and training volunteers to visit families at home to offer informal, focused and confidential support.

In St Albans we currently have 26 volunteers and in Dacorum we have 22 volunteers. The volunteer manager responsibilities include receiving and assessing referrals from a variety of sources and ensuring a good match between families and volunteers.

The recruitment, selection and preparation of suitable volunteers is a key role.   Home-Start Hertfordshire is committed to good safeguarding practice in all areas of our work and we seek to maintain the highest standards of practice in supporting families within our model.

Successful applicants will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the needs of children and families and excellent interpersonal skills.Successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced disclosure check with the DBS.
